What Captions is great at

Captions started as an app for adding animated subtitles to talking videos and grew into a full AI video studio. On iPhone and Android you get a teleprompter that adapts to your pace, script generation from a prompt, stylized auto captions and AI editing that adds cuts, B-roll and transitions in one pass.

It also has features Scriptmade does not: eye contact correction, translation and subtitles in 100+ languages, background noise removal, AI music and AI avatars that can speak for you. If you want your phone to be the whole studio, Captions is a polished choice.

Where Scriptmade is different

Scriptmade is built for people who make videos at their computer. It runs in Chrome or Safari, uses your laptop camera or any webcam and needs nothing installed. If you want to use your phone, scan a code and it becomes a teleprompter with the script right under the front camera. The take shows up in the studio on your computer.

The bigger difference is that the script drives everything. Claude writes a script meant for speaking. The teleprompter shows two lines at a time right under the lens, so there is less need to fix your gaze later. Then the same script becomes your editing surface:

• Type a slash on any line to add a split screen, full-screen B-roll, an AI image, a transition, a zoom or a sound effect.
• Delete a line to cut it from the video.
• Each direction lands on the words you actually said when you recorded.

Pauses and restarts are cut the moment you stop, with soft audio fades. Captions are timed to every word in 64 languages, including right-to-left scripts like Arabic. You export an H.264 MP4 in 9:16, 4:5, 1:1 or 16:9.

Where Captions is still the better pick

If you film on the go, walk and talk, or edit on the train, a native phone app will feel better than a browser. Scriptmade also does not correct eye contact, translate your video or create avatars. If those matter to you, stay with Captions.

Captions in your language

Both tools caption automatically, and both support many languages. Scriptmade writes scripts, runs the teleprompter and times captions in 64 languages. Right-to-left scripts like Arabic and Hebrew read correctly, and captions in Hindi, Bengali, Tamil and Thai use correct shaping, so words do not break apart on screen.

You can choose Clean, Karaoke or Bold caption styles, and paid plans unlock every style and frame. On the Studio plan you can set your own caption fonts and colors. Captions in Scriptmade come from the words you actually said, so if you go off script for a line, the captions follow you, not the script.
