Why reading from a script works on TikTok

TikTok feels unscripted, but the talking-head videos that do well are usually tight. They open with a claim, deliver it fast and stop. That is hard to improvise. How to set up your shot

• Hold the camera at eye level. A phone stand or a stack of books is enough.
• Leave space for captions. Keep your face in the upper half of the frame.

Script tips for TikTok

• Hook in the first sentence. Say the surprising part first. "I saved more by spending more on one thing."
• Talk to one person. Write "you", not "everyone".
• Cut the setup. No "so today" or "hey guys". Start in the middle of the thought.
• Keep lines short. Short lines read better on the teleprompter and become punchier captions.
• Pay off the hook. End on the answer, not a request to follow.

Turning comments into your next TikTok
