How we picked
We checked each app’s own website in September 2026 for the platforms it runs on and the features it lists. We left prices out, because they change often and differ by region; check each site before you buy. We also didn’t rank them. A teleprompter that is perfect for a pastor on an iPad is wrong for a founder posting to X from a laptop, so each entry says who it is best for.
Scriptmade is our product, so read that entry with that in mind. We tried to describe it the same way as the others.

1. Scriptmade
Scriptmade is a web app that writes the script, runs the teleprompter and edits the video. You describe the video in one sentence, or paste a YouTube, TikTok or X link, and Claude writes a script for speaking with pauses and delivery cues. The prompter sits over your camera preview, right under the lens, shows two lines at a time, follows your pace and waits when you stop. You can read line by line, as a scrolling script, or from topic cards. No webcam? Scan a code and record on your phone.
When you stop recording, silences and restarts are cut with soft fades and captions are timed to every word, in 64 languages. You can add stock B-roll, AI images, transitions, sound effects and music by editing the script, then export for 9:16, 4:5, 1:1 or 16:9, or copy the MP4 and paste it into X.

2. Teleprompter.com
Teleprompter.com runs on iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, Android and the web. Its signature feature is VoiceGlide, which scrolls as you speak and pauses when you pause. The site also lists cloud script sync with Google Drive, Dropbox and iCloud, 4K recording with auto captions, background replacement, several scroll modes, remote control and live streaming.
Best for: creators and professionals, especially in the Apple ecosystem, who want a polished dedicated prompter with voice scrolling. Compare it with Scriptmade on our Teleprompter.com alternative page.
3. PromptSmart
PromptSmart runs on iOS, Android, the web and PC. Its patented VoiceTrack follows your speech, pauses when you stop or go off script, and picks up when you return. The site says it works offline. It also lists flags for navigating long scripts and a semi-transparent prompter window you can layer over a video call.
Best for: people who speak from long scripts: narrators, clergy, public speakers, actors recording auditions and educators.
4. Speakflow
Speakflow runs in the browser on laptops, tablets and phones, and offers a desktop app that keeps the prompter always on top. You can scroll by voice or manually. Its Remote feature syncs a script across devices so someone else can run the prompter, and teams can write, organize and share scripts from one dashboard.

5. BIGVU
BIGVU runs on the web, iOS and Android. It pairs a scrolling teleprompter with adjustable speed and text size with editing: auto captions, split screens, on-screen inserts and one-tap removal of filler words and awkward pauses. It also offers AI video from a portrait photo with a cloned voice.

6. Captions
Captions is an AI video editor for phone and desktop. Its teleprompter scrolls your script by the camera and adjusts to your pace, and you can paste a script or generate one. According to its feature page, the prompter is in the iOS and Android apps, with the web editor planned. The main draw is the editor: AI edits, captions in over 100 languages, eye contact correction, noise removal and avatars.

7. Elgato Prompter
Elgato Prompter is hardware: a screen and beam-splitter glass that sits in front of your camera lens, so you read exactly where you look. It is controlled by Elgato’s free Camera Hub software for Mac and PC, which handles scripts, chapters, scroll speed and Voice Sync scrolling that follows your voice. It can also show your computer display or Twitch chat.
Best for: streamers and people with a fixed desk setup who want true on-lens eye contact and don’t mind extra gear.
8. CuePrompter
CuePrompter turns any browser into a teleprompter. It is free for commercial and non-commercial use, needs no account and adds no watermark. You paste a script, set the scroll speed, pick a color theme and flip on mirror mode if you use prompter glass.

How to choose
- Where do you record? Laptop or webcam points to a web app or Mac app. Phone points to a mobile app. A desk rig points to hardware like Elgato.
- Do you need the prompter to follow your voice? Teleprompter.com, PromptSmart, Speakflow and Elgato all advertise voice-following scrolling. It matters most for long scripts.
- Who controls it? If a producer runs the prompter, Speakflow’s remote and team features are built for that.
- What happens after you stop? If you still have to cut pauses and add captions, count the editor in your choice. BIGVU, Captions and Scriptmade include editing. Dedicated prompters mostly hand you raw footage.
- Do you need a script at all? If a blank page is the real problem, pick a tool that drafts one. Scriptmade, Captions and others can generate scripts from a prompt.
